High performance diesel pump unit in Luxemburg

For the Luxembourg ministry of Transport, BBA Pumps supplied a high performance diesel pump unit to be built on a pontoon. The pontoon shall also be equipped with a 100 kVA generator, a hydraulic crane and emergency tools. The pontoon shall be used on the river Mosel for emergency cases for ships in problem or for to be used as auxiliary pump for first aid organisations.

The pump performance are made by the organisation Service de la Navigation, who is responsible for the safety on the river Mosel.
Following specifications had to be fullfilled:
            - bilge application with capacity up to 1000 m3/h
            - booster application up to 2 bar with a flow of 1000 m3/h
            - handling clean or polluted river water
            - self priming and suitable for dry running
            - diesel driven with noise level of 75 dBa at 25 m
            - to be operated directly to the pump or by remote control
 
Together with the Luxemburg distributor of BBA Pumps, the company EFG we have selected a high performance pump unit model D 300-400 MP VO GL with efficiency of 82%.
The drive is a Volvo diesel engine TAD650 VE, with variable speed, nominal power 118 kW at 1500 rpm.
The diesel motor is according the highest emission complaint EPA TIER 3 / EU Stage III.

As the unit has to be built up on the pontoon, the dimensions are restricted. Therefore BBA supplied a special tank frame and canopy. The tank volume is 600 litre, makes it possible to run the pump for
30 hours without filling up. The noise level is reduced to 52 dBa at
25 m, far belong the given specifications.

Next to the pump unit also pipes and couplings have been supplied to make the pump unit suitable to operate.
EFG has realized the complete installation of the pump unit as well as the instruction who to use the pump unit. BBA Pumps have
