Water Board Rivierenland (WBR) is responsible for water management between the Rhine/Lek and Meuse rivers, from the German border up to the Dutch Kinderdijk; an area with almost 1 million inhabitants. Recently, the local pump system required serious renovation. As the water level can easily be disturbed during pump renovations, the WBR purchased two mobile pump systems to temporarily ‘manage’ the water.
But the WBR had an additional role for the new systems, serving as back-ups in case of flooding or water shortage.
For this dual responsibility, WBR purchased BBA Pumps’ BA-C600 S12: a mobile pump system with a maximum flow of 6500 m3/hr (28600 US GPM) and a maximum head of 24 mwc (80 ft.).
The new pumps quickly proved their value, completing their first renovation project effortlessly. “We are now better prepared for any water catastrophes, and have also reduced our equipment rental costs considerably,” confirms Johan van IJmeren of the WBR.
