1953 | Founding
It all started in 1953, in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, when the Bruin family laid the foundation for what would become a trusted name in the world of pump and pipe systems. Mr. Bruin launched Bruin Buizen Apeldoorn, a company specialized in manufacturing piping systems for water transport. From the very beginning, quality, reliability, and craftsmanship were at the heart of the business.

From Family business to global brand

Over the decades, several generations of the Bruin family have led the company forward. They share a passion for technology, a drive to innovate and an entrepreneurial spirit. Even the company’s original name tells the story of its roots:

1970 | Pump supplier
The next step was taken in the mid-1970s. At that time, BBA started supplying pumps.

Expanding horizons

1980 | Distrimex Pompen & Service BV, the Netherlands

1995 | BBA Hranice in the Czech Republic
In 1989, BBA took a bold step eastward by founding BBA Hranice in the Czech Republic – a vital production facility for semi-finished products. This strategic move significantly strengthened our production capabilities.

Pioneering pump technologies

1995 | The first PT pump
Innovation is in BBA’s DNA. In 1995, BBA launched the first PT pump – a breakthrough in wellpoint dewatering. This piston pump has since evolved into today’s environmentally friendly and highly efficient PT wellpoint pump series.

2005 | Introduction of BA series
In 2005, the BA series was introduced – a vacuum-assisted centrifugal pump known for its dry self-priming capabilities, trusted for dewatering, sewer bypassing, and flood control.

Global reach

2007 | BBA Pumps PL Sp. z o.o., Poland
The journey continued in 2007 with the founding of BBA Pumps PL Sp. z o.o. in Poland. This allowed us to provide distribution of BBA Pumps products and other leading brands of pumps in Poland and local support.

2010 | BBA Pumps Inc., North America
The global ambition didn't stop there. In 2010, we crossed the Atlantic to launch BBA Pumps Inc. in North America, bringing our Dutch-engineered technology to a vast new market. Founded in Charleston, South Carolina, BBA Pumps Inc. has grown into a major hub for pump systems in the US and Canada. With a dedicated technical and logistics team, short delivery times and strong service support are guaranteed.

2017 | Distrimex Pompen & Service BV, Belgium 
In 2017, we reinforced our Benelux presence with a new Distrimex Pompen & Service BV location in Belgium.

BBA Pumps Twello 1, the Netherlands
As demand continued to rise, 2017 and 2021 saw the opening of BBA Pumps Twello 1 and 2 in the Netherlands, giving us expanded production and logistics capabilities to support our growing portfolio.

BBA Pumps Twello 2, the Netherlands

2022

BBA Pumpen GmbH, Germany
In 2022, we proudly launched BBA Pumpen GmbH in Germany, securing a strong base for serving the DACH region (Germany, Austria and the German-speaking part of Switzerland) with dedicated sales and service.

2025

BBA Pumps Australia PTY LTD
And now, in 2025, our most recent expansion brings us to the Southern Hemisphere with the founding of BBA Pumps Australia PTY LTD, marking yet another milestone in our global journey.
